Home’s done for a taste and lifestyle of a couple’s. A spacious living room was high on the list of priorities and so Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lau decided on one bedroom less in their five-room flat in view. The wall separating the living room and one bedroom was torn down to “open” the living room – more emphasis placed here since more time is spent in the area. An open kitchen further contributed to the feeling of spaciousness. Because the couple entertains a lot, a bar was included. Wall-to-wall carpeting was a practical choice as it would help cushion their young child’s falls. A generous living area it has been restructured. This leaves lots of play area for the child. A lively room with dominant yellow shades makes charming views. Practical sunshades were preferred instead of curtains and deep brown louvered furniture is a stark contrast to the yellow. Read more…
The house, part on an inheritance, was built in 1912 for the bride’s parents in Buenos Aires. It has just been a “bit altered” to suit the lifestyle of the young couple who now own it. The present owners’ favorite possessions and new inherited antiques have been delightfully combined. The painting on the facade enlivens the lines following an art deco style. The living room by the main entrance is on a mezzanine level. The basement serves as the wife’s studio. She is an interior decorator. The homeowner used all their favorite objects, combining them in an utterly relaxed fashion. Note the Indian baskets that serve as coffee and side-tables. The table and chairs have a simple, clean line and are made of massive wood; an antique desk and a small dresser are also included.
